Final Fantasy XIII-2
Okay guys, we all know what FFXIII was a big let down. So, I was looking at my feed on facebook and found this. So, celebrations or cries of outrage? While I'm enjoying the new look for Lightning (yay Valkyrie), I'm wondering at how they are going to spin this story out. And if they are going to get rid of the wonky leveling mechanics.

Yeah, for once I'd like some armor that makes sense. Especially for Lightning as she is actually wearing armor. :\

I just saw Lightning's 2nd alt outfit for Duodecim and am even more >:\ considering that outfit is supposed to based off of the female Guardian Corps uniform. Those aren't pants. :I

That's exactly what I was thinking. :P

I didn't feel that FFXIII was a let down. I loved it, actually.

That being said, I'll probably buy XII-2, but won't expect much from it. I mean, c'mon, remember how shitty X-2 was?

I think what irritated me the most about FFXIII was the leveling process. Story=enjoyable. I doubt they are going to be able to pull something the level of Crisis Core with it.

we all know what FFXIII was a big let down.

*throws up hands* I GIVE UP.

Not everyone hates that game. Some of us actually really liked it. Less generalizations plz.

Everytime someone says that XIII was a let own I honestly just roll my eyes and ignore it by now.

I'm past tired of trying to explain that I think XIII was fine the way it was by now.

Hey, I liked the story. It was just a let down in comparison to what I was expecting out of the franchise.

I loved FFX-2 simply BECAUSE it was so girly and over the top. It was super relaxing because it was just so damn silly.

So I'm expecting the sequel for FFXIII to be "disappointing" among fans, because sequels often are. But really, I'm just happy to have Lightning back! I really enjoyed her character. My only hope is that the maps become less linear and are able to be revisited (like in basically all other recent FF games).

But I'm not difficult to please, so I'm sure I'll love whatever they come up with.

I'm with you. Maybe X-2 was too campy for people's liking, but I found it amusing and played it all the way through. Plus, I'm a sucker for a happy ending so watching the reunion was grand.

I'm not going to hang any expectations on XIII-2. All I care about is having a good time when I play, be it a serious storyline or goofy.

I'm just wondering how they are going to spin another story out of it. I felt that the world was really closed with the end of FFXIII. Maybe they'll fix the game mechanics. That would delight me.
melfina_panmelfina_pan on January 23rd, 2011 01:23 am (UTC)
I'm sure there are a few angles that they could take. I'm guessing they'll delve into life after the fall of Orphan. Perhaps there will be problems with remaining fal'cie. God only knows...

Of everything, if it is a party driven game, I would like greater control over all members in battle.

What I think would've been more interesting though is a prequel. Maybe a game focused on the War of Transgression with a story centered around Vanille and Fang on Pulse since XIII was more about Cocoon's perspective. It would be cool to see the events leading up to them being crystallized the first time around.

Same here. I loved watching the game because of the graphics, but I didn't care of the story and the only characters I found interesting was Fang and Snow. Lightning was cool but too emo for me (sorry to the Lightning fans)
I don't have much hope for XIII-2 but I may give it a shot. Who knows? Maybe it'll redeem itself and kinda be a bit better than X-2

I agree with others, not everyone hated FFXIII. I loved the game and can understand why some elements were the way they were.

I really look forward to FFXIII-2. I look forward to returning to Pulse and seeing what has happened since Cocoon came down and the people returned to this world.

I didn't hate FFXIII, it served its purpose and gave me something to do game wise for a while, then I sold it off. But I only got so far in FFX-2 before giving up on it, as I found Yuna's ability to channel her inner Barbie and swap outfits during battle a really really poor substitute for summoning Aeons who can squash the enemy like a bug in the first blow. So when I look at this I think back to FFX-2 and am pretty skeptical of a sequel.

Even though I haven't finished FFXIII yet, I'm toally looking forward to his!

And I gotta admit that FFX-2 was pretty fun, not serious but it wasn't meant to be :P

Sorry, typo :C

I also loved FF XIII. I enjoyed the whole thing, story characters all of it. Just because X2 was bad and it was a sequel doesn't mean that every sequel has to be bad. Silent Hill 2 was also a sequel and most people will argue it was one of if not the best Silent Hill. One bad Final Fantasy sequel doesn't mean they all have to be bad.

The thing I don't understand is people pointing out the scantily clad attire in X2. I know it was there but honestly it is nothing new to games. Tifa wasn't exactly in the longest skirt in FF VII but that hasn't stopped people from loving it.
hopelesslover23: fuck youhopelesslover23 on January 22nd, 2011 03:17 am (UTC)
I think that the reason everyone points it out was because so much of X2 was swapping the clothing.

I loved the story of FFXIII, it was the battle system that turned me off. Way too hands off for me and that says a lot considering that by the end of XII I just turned the AI on and watched the last battle. I just really wanted the story of XIII to marry the battle system of XII...

I really liked XIII up until about chapter 11. Then I hated it. I can't get myself to get through all those damn missions and care about the characters any more. I'm pretty much giving up on Final Fantasy as a whole now since Squeenix is just milking the games for all they're worth instead of actually trying to make them better, or hell, keeping them as they used to be.
So yeah, no xiii-2 for me, thank you very much.

Oh I'm definitely looking forward to this. While I haven't liked the last two final Fantasies as much as the earlier ones there was still plenty for me to enjoy in FFVIII. I didn't like the way the story was so linear but I liked it enough for me to keep playing (and replaying). Also, the only characters I really didn't like were Serah, and Snow.
I liked it enough to be excited about the sequel.

Also, X-2 was well cheesy and stupid but I enjoyed it even though I'm not girly. I loved that it didn't take itself seriously at all. That said, VIII looks more serious.

I had mixed feelings about Final Fantasy XIII, while I loved the massive amounts of storyline it got too much. I felt like I was watching a movie more than playing a game. As far as gameplay was concerned though, I didn't really like it. Sure, I got used to it but I really missed good old fashioned leveling. Sure, I loved the auto-battle and the fact that I only had to concentrate on one character as the other two did what they were supposed to, but I think it was more of the leveling which drove me insane and the constant switching between jobs. As far as XIII-2 is concerned I'm worried about a return of X-2, which I loathed. Way too much switching of the clothes for me but part of it may be because I didn't like X in the first place.
